What are the MSH peptides?
They are melanocortin peptides cleaved from proopiomelanocortin, comprising alpha-, beta- and gamma-MSH forms. Each contains a conserved core motif recognised by the melanocortin receptor family, and the peptides differ in length, terminal modifications and tissue distribution.
What is NDP-alpha-MSH used for?
NDP-alpha-MSH carries norleucine and D-phenylalanine substitutions that markedly increase resistance to enzymatic degradation. It is widely used in receptor binding, signalling and pigment assays as a stable reference agonist when prolonged exposure or high potency is required.
Which species sequences are offered?
Alpha-MSH is identical in human, rat and mouse, so one peptide covers those models. Gamma-MSH forms and POMC-derived fragments are more variable, so species-specific rat, human and other sequences are listed separately alongside matching antibodies.
