P-21 Nasal Spray

What P-21 is

Ciliary neurotrophic factor supports survival of several neuronal populations but, at roughly 200 residues, is impractical for most experimental delivery routes. P-21 takes the opposite approach: isolate a short active motif and armour it chemically. The acetyl cap and terminal amide block exopeptidases, while the adamantane group raises lipophilicity substantially — the property that shapes both its reported behaviour and its formulation requirements.

Why a spray format is used

Interpretive limits

Store the bottle refrigerated at 2–8 °C, upright and shielded from light, and let it reach ambient temperature before priming so the metering pump throws an even mist. Do not freeze a filled bottle — freeze-thaw can drop the compound out of solution given its limited aqueous solubility. Prime into waste until a consistent spray forms, inspect the solution for cloudiness or visible particulate before each session, and discard if either appears. Note the first-open date on the label, keep the in-use window short, and record the lot number with your experimental data.
