What is xenin?
Xenin is a 25-residue gastrointestinal peptide reported to be derived from the coatomer alpha subunit. Its C-terminus resembles neurotensin, and published effects on motility, pancreatic secretion and islet responses are often interpreted through neurotensin receptor signalling.
What is xenin 8?
Xenin 8 is the C-terminal fragment corresponding to residues 18-25 of xenin 25. It retains much of the reported activity in experimental systems and is used as a minimal active sequence in structure-activity and receptor pharmacology studies.
Why are unrelated peptides listed in this group?
The catalog grouping is partly organisational, so a few sequences from other sources appear alongside xenin, including invertebrate SALMF amides and a chromogranin A-derived fragment. Each should be evaluated on its own published literature rather than by association.
