Relaxin-3 (R3) Chimeric Peptides — frequently asked

What is a relaxin-3 chimeric peptide?
It is a synthetic construct combining regions of relaxin-3 with those of a related insulin-superfamily peptide, most often INSL5. The R3/I5 design is described in the literature as a way to favour activity at the RXFP3 receptor over other relaxin receptors.
Why are [Met(O)] versions listed?
Methionine sulfoxide forms arise during peptide synthesis, storage and handling. Supplying them as defined standards lets researchers recognise and quantify oxidised species in chromatographic or mass spectrometric analysis instead of misassigning them as the unmodified parent peptide.
What are these peptides used for?
They are used chiefly as reference material in receptor pharmacology comparisons and in analytical characterisation of two-chain peptides, including stability and degradation studies. They are laboratory research reagents and are not intended for any human or veterinary application.
