What is QRFP?
QRFP, or 26RFa, is an RFamide neuropeptide encoded by a gene first recognised through genome analysis. It is processed to a 26-residue peptide and a longer pyroglutamylated 43-residue form, both ending in the characteristic arginine-phenylalanine-amide motif.
What receptor does QRFP act on?
Published work identifies GPR103, also called SP9155 or AQ27, as the principal receptor. Binding and signalling assays with the 26- and 43-residue peptides are the usual way researchers compare potency and characterise downstream second-messenger responses.
Why do product names mention a hypothetical protein?
The precursor was originally annotated in sequence databases as hypothetical protein XP_294524 before the peptide was characterised. Suppliers retain that identifier alongside the QRFP and 26RFa names so that older literature and database records can be matched reliably.
