What are prokineticins?
Prokineticins are small cysteine-rich secreted proteins, comprising PK1 (also called EG-VEGF) and PK2 in mammals. They are reported to signal through the G protein-coupled receptors PKR1 and PKR2 and share an AVIT N-terminal motif with the non-mammalian peptides MIT1 and Bv8.
Why are only fragments and Cys(Acm) forms listed?
The native proteins contain ten cysteines forming a defined disulfide fold that is hard to reproduce synthetically. Catalogs therefore supply C-terminal fragments and cysteine-protected variants, which are practical as immunogens, antibody epitopes and building blocks for controlled folding experiments.
Which species variants exist?
Human PK1 and PK2 sequences, including isoform 2 of PK2, dominate the listings. Prokineticins are conserved across mammals but not identical, and related peptides such as Bv8 come from amphibians, so the stated origin should be checked before cross-species use.
