Nogo and Nogo Receptor — frequently asked

What is Nogo?
Nogo is a reticulon family protein encoded by the RTN4 gene. Its Nogo-A isoform is widely studied in the nervous system, and the extracellular Nogo-66 loop shared by all isoforms is the region most commonly supplied as a research peptide.
What does the Nogo receptor do?
The Nogo receptor NgR1 is a GPI-anchored leucine-rich repeat protein reported to bind Nogo-66 and other myelin-derived ligands. It signals with co-receptors such as p75NTR and LINGO-1, and published work links this pathway to inhibition of neurite outgrowth.
Which reagents are available in this family?
Catalogs list Nogo-66 derived peptides in plain, fluorescent and radiolabeled forms, together with goat-derived antibodies against human and mouse Nogo receptor, supplied purified or biotinylated for immunohistochemistry, blocking and detection experiments.
