What are LGR receptors?
LGRs are G protein-coupled receptors carrying a large extracellular domain of leucine-rich repeats. The group includes glycoprotein hormone receptors, the relaxin family receptors LGR7 and LGR8, and LGR4 to LGR6, which bind R-spondins and modulate Wnt signalling.
What is LGR8?
LGR8, also known as RXFP2, is described as the receptor for insulin-like peptide 3. It features in studies of testicular descent, gubernaculum development, and bone and reproductive biology, and receptor-derived peptides are used to raise and validate antibodies against it.
How are these receptor peptides used?
They are not receptor ligands. Defined receptor segments serve as immunogens, as blocking peptides that confirm antibody specificity, and as antigens for affinity purification, supporting western blot, immunohistochemistry and immunoprecipitation workflows.
