What is intelectin?
Intelectin is a secreted lectin-like protein with a fibrinogen-related domain, also known as omentin because it was independently identified as a factor enriched in omental adipose tissue. Both names refer to the same gene product.
Why is omentin studied?
It is investigated both as an innate immune lectin that recognises microbial glycans and as an adipokine examined in relation to insulin sensitivity and vascular function. Its receptor is not firmly established, so mechanistic interpretations remain provisional.
What are the numbered peptides used for?
