What is hemopressin?
Hemopressin is a short peptide derived from the alpha chain of haemoglobin, originally isolated from rat brain. Longer N-terminally extended forms such as RVD-hemopressin, also known as pepcan-12, were described later and are studied alongside it.
Why is this family linked to cannabinoid receptors?
Reports have described interactions with the CB1 receptor, initially as an inverse agonist and later, for extended forms, as an allosteric modulator. These assignments remain debated, so the peptides are usually treated as pharmacological probes rather than settled ligands.
Which species forms are available?
Rodent and human sequences differ by a single residue, and both are offered, along with forms shared across canine, bovine, equine and porcine haemoglobin. Tyrosinated [Tyr0] versions are supplied where radioiodination or tracer preparation is required.
