Endostatin Peptides — frequently asked

What is endostatin?
Endostatin is a C-terminal fragment released by proteolysis from collagen XVIII, a basement membrane protein. It was originally isolated from a murine tumour cell line and is reported to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation and migration in laboratory angiogenesis assays.
Why are fragments listed rather than the whole protein?
The full endostatin domain requires correct folding and zinc coordination, which complicates production. Shorter derived peptides such as JKC362, JKC-367 and the E4 fragment were designed to reproduce reported activity in a form that can be made by standard peptide synthesis.
Which species sequences are available?
Human-derived fragments are the main listings, supplied as amidated synthetic peptides. Endostatin sequences differ between human and rodent collagen XVIII, so species should be matched when comparing activity data or assessing antibody cross-reactivity.
