BAFF Receptor (BAFF-R) — frequently asked

What is BAFF-R?
BAFF-R is the B cell activating factor receptor, also designated TNFRSF13C. It is one of three receptors described for BAFF, alongside TACI and BCMA, and is generally reported as the principal mediator of BAFF-driven peripheral B cell survival.
What are these peptides used for?
They correspond to short receptor regions rather than the folded extracellular domain, so they serve mainly as immunogens for antibody generation and as epitope-mapping or capture reagents rather than as functional ligand-binding surrogates for the intact receptor.
Why are cysteine-extended versions supplied?
An added terminal cysteine provides a defined thiol for coupling to carrier proteins such as KLH, or for immobilisation on surfaces and resins. This supports controlled, oriented conjugation in antibody production and binding assay workflows.
