What is adipocyte fatty acid binding protein?
A-FABP, also known as FABP4 or aP2, is a small cytosolic lipid chaperone abundant in adipocytes and macrophages. It folds into a beta-barrel that binds long-chain fatty acids and related lipids inside the cell.
Why is A-FABP researched?
Published studies associate it with intracellular lipid trafficking, lipolysis and inflammatory signalling in macrophages, and describe circulating levels that vary with adiposity and metabolic state. It is therefore a common subject in adipose biology and biomarker research.
What formats are offered in this family?
Items are mainly short synthetic sequences from defined regions of the protein, such as residues 110 to 132, plus purified IgG antibodies supplied plain or conjugated with biotin, FAM, FITC or rhodamine for detection and imaging.
